Rapid Heritage Checks:
With all planning proposals, the impact upon our cultural heritage must be considered. In some cases, for example, 'green field' developments or urban sites where there could be industrial or social heritage implications, the planning authority may require some form of evaluation before the development takes place. As a minimum, this normally would entail what is known as a desk-based assessment and sometimes this needs to be followed by further assessment, which can be expensive.
What we offer is a rapid check and analysis of all accessible digital archaeological and historical resources, so that some indication can be obtained to suggest whether or not, archaeological evaluation would be required for the site to be developed.
The cost for this is minimal, when compared with a full desk-based assessment. This is likely to be in the region of only £80 - £120 (depending on the complexity and size of the site).
Please note that a rapid heritage check provides no guarantee that further evaluation would be required by the planning authority; however, it is intended to provide an assessment of the liklihood of such being required.
