has grown roots in Cannons Creek and the Porirua Basin for over 50 years. We are a multicultural church with the community in our heart.
Our church is volunteer led, with our Vision Team overseeing our day-to-day running. The vision team has two sub-teams: Money & Mortar and Growth & Outreach. Our Quality Bible Teaching Team oversees our Sunday teaching.
God sparks a movement of Jesus followers through our church!
Kia ora koutou, Ko Lynda Broadbent taku ingoa, I have been a member of PGC since I married Mark 23 years ago. I am a 7th generation Salvation Army and proud of my heritage. I am a mother to one grown son, Caleb: a mother to another chosen daughter, AllaLee, and a step-mother to four other adult children, Luke, Elise, Ashley and James; we also have 6 moko with one on the way. Mark and I live in Titahi Bay with our two dogs Lily and Harley and while I am a Primary School teacher by day I am on the Money and Mortar team as well as the Quality Bible Teaching team.

Ko Bex Lawton tōku ingoa. My husband and I joined PGC when we moved to the Porirua Basin in 2021. I serve on the Quality Bible Teaching team and we host a weekly life group. Our first child was born in 2022, and we love raising our growing whānau in the PGC community. We believe that God led us to a special place when we landed at PGC!
I came to PGC with a young family 30 years ago, my children grew up in this church, and moved out of town to other churches. I am a pharmacist with a strong interest in health. I believe in sharing my faith with others, and supporting people in their faith journey. I am involved with church through the growing out team, Hmong-English home group, women’s group, hospitality, and hosting worship. We are on a journey through life together, and together we are stronger.
Ngā mihi mahana ki a koutou katoa. Ko Richard Smith tōku ingoa. Ko tāngata o te Tiriti toku iwi. Nō Piritana nui, nō Merika me no Hāmene ōku tīpuna. Ko Kirstie tōku wahine. Kei Porirua tō māua kainga. I whānui mai ahau i te Whanganui a Tara. I am a teacher and a tutor. In my free time I write poetry and the occasional story or song. I joined the Vision Team in 2021. I help with worship, communications and teaching Sunday School.
My family and I are grateful to be part of this beautiful corner of Jesus' family for the past 10 years, and my hope is for others to find belonging and their unique identity and gifts in the Jesus whānau. Currently, I am part of the "Growing Out" Team, Sunday School and Women's Life Group, and am the chauffeur for the PGC Youth Band.
My wife introduced me to PGC shortly after we arrived in New Zealand from Canada in early 2014. We have raised three children with the help of the other families in this church. Currently I am serving on the "Growing Out" team, Quality Bible Teaching team, Sunday School, Men's Connection series and the Hmong-English Life group. My focus for the next three years will be on discipling others in the way of Jesus and encouraging new voices to lead our church.
