Since 1967, Peter McKee has been an admirer and student of Seeger’s banjo playing and political activism. Peter is a co-founder of the Seattle folk band, “Clallam County,” which has performed throughout Washington State for 36 years. Prior to his retirement in 2016, Peter practiced law for 37 years representing disabled people who had been denied their Social Security disability benefits.
Peter has also led a Pete Seeger sing-a-long with other local musicians at the annual Northwest Folklife Festival. See highlights from the 2015 sing-a-long here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZQ_NgqPAdc
In 2008, as part of a nationwide contest in honor of Pete Seeger's upcoming 90th birthday, Peter wrote an original song titled "Pete Got Us Singing." Although the contest was subsequently cancelled due to an abundance of great submissions and an inability to pick a winner, Peter has continued to perform this original song.
