This site is part of a wide and constant survey for academic works on spiritism[1] and constitutes the unfolding of a study of thesis and dissertations (Phd) on the theme that have been published in two references elsewhere (cf. Albuquerque, 2011).
Data were obtained from two preliminary surveys in Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) thesis database and in the Brazilian Digital Library of Thesis and Dissertations (BDTD) - the first one encompasses the period of 1979 to 2009, while the second one goes from 2010 to 2011. From the first survey, an “notebook of abstracts” was edited with reference to thesis and dissertations about the theme. The second survey gave rise to a list of thesis (mainly Phd) only. Both lists are here freely available.
These works make reference to related Phd thesis (that are tangential or central to the main topic, “spiritism”) and were obtained in several areas of knowledge and by several Brazilian academic institutions.
Moreover, this site contains a repository of works that can be downloaded at BDTD and at Domínio Público website, including the contribution of some authors who kindly granted us permission to make their work available here. This repository can be assessed at Google Drive or Dropbox. The online collection of thesis and dissertations has presently more than 110 texts available for downloading.
The site has recently incorporated voluntary contributions of articles, books and chapters of academic texts or references that are exclusively related to spiritism. The first reference list are in the MSExcel file ....xls and can be found in the “(Ongoing) List of academic text on spiritism” directory.
Our aim is to give visibility to the research that has been conducted about this topic and to facilitate the access to these works to the interested researcher.

[1] By ‘spiritism’ we refer both to the body of spiritualist knowledge that appeared in the XIXth century under the work of the French educator Hyppolyte L. Denizard Rivail, better known as Allan Kardec, as well as the social and religious movement of adepts of spiritism.
