I asked God to take away my habit.

God said, No.

It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.

我祈求上帝拿走我的恶习。

上帝说不，因为恶习不是由他拿走，乃是要你自己放下。

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.

God said, No.

His spirit is whole, his body is only temporary

我祈求上帝使我残障的孩子健全。

上帝说不，因为他/她的灵是完全的，而他/她的身体是暂时的。

I asked God to grant me patience.

God said, No. Patience is a byproduct of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.

我祈求上帝赐我忍耐。

上帝说不，因为忍耐是从患难而生，不是赐下，乃是磨练而成。

I asked God to give me happiness.

God said, No.

I give you blessings; Happiness is up to you.

我祈求上帝赐我快乐。

上帝说不，因为他会给我们祝福，快乐与否取决于自己。

I asked God to spare me pain.

God said, No.

Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.

我祈求上帝免我受苦。

上帝说不，因为痛苦能使你远离世俗的挂虑，与神亲近。
