Overview
Our group is majorly focussed towards discovering and understanding the fundamentals of multiphysics phenomena related to hydrodynamics and thermal transport, via experimentations and theoretical analysis.
We are inclined towards understanding micro, meso and nanoscale transport phenomena for scientific advancements and growth of knowledge, both on the engineering and medical fronts.
In brief, our research is largely curiosity-driven and nature-inspired, and often derived from popular science. The findings might not always have immediate or direct utilities, but may satiate the human curiosity and desire for new knowledge and its comprehension.
We call our group the Hydrodynamics and Thermal Multiphysics Lab (HTML), and the physical labspace is distributed between the Thermofluidic Optical Diagnostics Facility, and the Complex Fluids, Heat Transfer, and Multiphase Flows Lab, located within the premises of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Kharagpur.
The following are the broad areas on which we focus, through experiments and/or theory/simulations:
Micro-nano-bio-fluidics and micro-nano-heat/mass transfer 🩸 🔬🦠
Droplets, bubbles, sprays, jets, vesicles, fog/mist, and films 🌧️🫧🧫
Surface and interfacial engineering; wetting and anti-wetting; soft matter 🍦🌵🐛
Phase-change and multi-phase transport phenomena 🔥❄️🚂
Electric and magnetic fields, and chemical reactions in fluid-thermal-sciences ⚡🧲☢️
Complex fluids, non-Newtonian fluids, rheology, and viscoelasticity 🪼🥤🫛
