The Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) of the Princeton Club of St. louis consists of local alumni who interview local high school students who are applying to Princeton. We are constantly looking for alums who are interested in helping out with interviewing.
OUR GOAL: To interview ALL of the students so that they may have a uniquely and positively Princeton connection with the University regardless of decision. For some students this may be the only contact they ever have with the University and we strive to make it a positive one. Although some alumni interview as many as half a dozen students per year or more, many others only interview one or two. Whatever help you can give provides a great service to the University and the students.
In 2022-23, interviews are taking place both virtually and in-person and are designed to last 30-45 minutes. The purpose of the interview is to provide a connection for applicants to whom they can address their questions, as well as for the University to gain additional information about the applicant. After the interview, interviewers fill out and submit a brief form online to Admissions.
We receive names of applicants from the University from late October through the first week of February. Interview reports for applicants who apply Single Choice Early Action are completed by the end of November, and all other interview reports are completed by the end of February. Alumni help the Admissions Committee make difficult decisions and inspire rising college students through theses thoughtful conversations. We are so grateful for our alumni's service as Princeton ambassadors.
If you are interested in joining the ASC Tiger family to help with interviews and/or taking another role within the ASC committee, please e-mail our ASC Chair, Ian Hagemann '00 at stlouisprincetonasc@gmail.com We are always looking to expand our fun and dedicated group!
In 2018 Christina Clarke '97 was on hand to accept the S. Barksdale Penick Jr. '25 Award for the work of our ASC team and her work as Alumni Schools Committee chair. The Award recognizes the "Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) whose activities, enthusiasm and imagination have most effectively realized the primary goals of Schools Committee work: to recruit outstanding candidates for Princeton, to report skillfully on these candidates to the Admission office and to represent Princeton to its local community." This was a great accomplishment for our ASC team. A special thanks to all of our volunteer interviewers who contributed to this effort--you are amazing Princeton ambassadors!
