Happy New Year!

Celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary

2018 has been a hectic - but rewarding - year for us both.  Susan Jane continues her far-reaching and well-recognized work on National Forest protection and policy, and is still teaching at the Northwestern School of Law.  Paul has fully embraced his intention to save the world while also running a for-profit company.  He continues his daily meditation practice and reads several books a week.

We both had several speaking engagements on various topics related to our work, and we enjoy excellent support from our employers, which makes all of the hard work worth it.  Sometimes we're so busy that we're literally ships passing in the night, but we believe in the work we're doing and find it fulfilling.  Our dogs Niki and Indy keep us grounded and make us laugh almost every day.

We were able to visit with many friends and are grateful for every chance we have to see them.  SJ went hiking a few times and Paul had a few 'guys weekends.'  We made it back to Indiana to visit with Paul's family (including his amazing 95-year-old grandmother!) and Colorado to visit with SJ's family.  Both sets of parents also made it out to Oregon this year for fun visits.

Our big trips were Banff (with SJ's parents) and Portugal.  We had great weather in both locations with full agendas, amazing sights, and incredible food.  You can view pictures at the links above.  We also created an album with some additional fun (and dog) pictures from the year, and you can view that here.  We have several trips already planned for 2019 including Death Valley and a return to Africa.

We count our blessings every day, and hope this letter finds you well.

Banff is stunning in every direction

We even got out for a hike with the dogs this year

Wishing you all the joys of the holiday season... the warmth of home, the love of family, and the laughter of good friends.

If Indy and Niki can figure out how to share the bed in front of the fire, maybe world peace is attainable. :)
