My PBL Project

INTRODUCTION: I have prepared a worksheet about the world's largest cup of coffee. First of all i have determined the size of cup. According to the size i have to created at least 30 problems. I created a facts about the largest cup of coffee and find the answer to my driving question.

MATERIALS: Poster board, ruler, calculator like mathematical instrument and my idea and imagination.

PROCEDURE:

  • Do the PBL tasks

  • Create 30 problems or questions about the coffee cup.

  • create a poster.

  • Answer those questions.

SCIENTIFIC PRINCIPAL: If the person of 12 inches drinks 1.56 ounces of coffee, how many ounces of coffee does the average person of 69 inches drinks . To find the X you have to do the proportion. Multiply 69 and 1.56 and you will get 107.64. Then divide 107.64 by 12 like shown in the below:

69 x 1.56 = 107.64

107.64/12 = 8.97 So, 9 ounces

Therefor, the average person of 69 inches drinks 9 ounces.

Reflection questions

1. How did you determine the rate equation of filling the cup?

----> At first I watch the video of the world largest cup of coffee and learned how they did it and how they fill the cup. And solved the equation and graphed it. I used graphing calculator for help.

2. How did you explain how many normal cup can be filled with the coffee of this largest cup?

----> I explain how many normal cup can be filled with the coffee of the largest cup by first knowing the average person of 69 inches drinks 9 ounces by solving the problem like this

69 x 1.56 = 107.64

107.64/12 = 8.97 So, 9 ounces .

Then by knowing how big is the largest cup of coffee and then the regular cup of coffee.

3. Which math subject you used in this project? Which subject you think used efficiently in this project? Why? Explain.

---->I used direct proportion as a math subject in this project. i think Math subject is used efficiently in this project because this project was to find how many cup of coffee can be served from the largest cup of coffee. This was all math work and our education brain to figure out the answer.
