This is an amazing book for its simplicity and the astonishing revelations about the business world. It's really not fair to summarize this book in one sentence only but essentially the author shows research results that prove the counterintuitive negative results given by "the carrot and the stick". The thesis is that "the carrot and stick" may even work for repetitive jobs but not for creative jobs. As to say that years and years of management has been trained with the wrong principle.
