We all know how important it is to teach our students about Digital Citizenship, but it's not always so easy to do. Here are some ideas & suggestions for getting started. You are welcome to add your comments below.
- Read How to Tackle Digital Citizenship in the First 5 Days of School by Tanya Avrith & Holly Clark
- Explore the following resources curated to support this article. Bookmark those you could use with your students next year
- Find your school/district/board’s Acceptable Use Document and create age-appropriate examples for students
- Research & collect additional examples of Student Created Acceptable Use Documents. Try MediaSmarts to start
- Add a paragraph in your welcome letter to Parents describing your plans to integrate Digital Citizenship into the curriculum
- Instead of (or in addition to) a traditional Curriculum Night, plan and host a Digital Citizenship Information evening explaining how you are using technology throughout the curriculum & how parents can support
- Find examples of posters that students can use as models to create their own Digital Citizenship Posters
