Overview

I study the physics and mechanics of granular media and other disordered materials from which fascinating emergent physical phenomena arise.  Often, these complex phenomena are out-of-equilibrium and beyond their linear response regime.

Understanding their behavior often requires the development of new experimental techniques, analysis tools, numercial simulations and theoretical models.

My main research subjects are granular packings, granular miing and mictures, crushing, granular flows and optimization of processes involving granular materials.
