I am an Associate Professor of Philosophy at Johns Hopkins University.  During the upcoming spring semester, I will be a visiting fellow at the Human Abilities Centre, in Berlin.

My primary interest is in early modern philosophy, especially Locke and Newton.  I'm also interested in American Indian philosophy, medieval philosophy, and applied ethics.

My book, Newton's Metaphysics of Substance: God, Bodies, Minds, was recently published by Oxford University Press.
