Fair Art
The art market has had a profound effect on contemporary art. It has brought extraordinary attention and respect to art. Fair Art harnesses this power and directs it to good causes.
. The project is to sell an artwork composed of U.S. money, specifically $100 bills arranged in a grid and framed. The amount would be approximately $20,000. The work would have a contract whereby the proceeds would mostly go to a charity. The collector would receive a portion of the sale (approximately less than half.) Each time the work is resold, the bulk would go to another charity. The collector would be encouraged to resell the work, to exhibit where they wanted and to be open to the press to generate interest in the project. The collectors would be encouraged to put the work up for auction at the auction houses, Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Phillips de Pury and Co., etc. The press generated from these sales would enhance the success of the project and create interest in using art for positive purposes.
