I am an economist at University College London. My research interests are in labour economics, specifically inequality and technological change. I am also interested in economics education especially the role of technology in higher education, and am Founding Director of the Centre for Teaching and Learning Economics. I serve on the Teaching and Learning Committee of the CORE Project.

Before coming to UCL, I taught at the University of Oxford, Dartmouth College and Yale University.

I am originally from Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. I was educated at Presidency College (now Presidency University), Calcutta, Delhi School of Economics, University of Notre Dame and New York University.

In my free time, I follow cricket no matter who's playing and no matter where!
