I am Associate Professor at the School of Economics and Political Science and Director of the Institute of Economics (FGN) at the University of St.Gallen.

I am interested in bridging the gap between welfare economics and public economics (broadly interpreted). My project VALURED (financed by the European Research Council) deals with the relationship between principles of distributive justice and optimal taxation. My project TaxFair (financed by the Research Council of Norway) extends the analysis to empirical aspects.

I am co-organizer (with Maya Eden) of the webinar series: "Normative Economics & Economic Policy."
