A conference on Evolutionary ornithology in memory of Evgeny Kurochkin

was held at Zvenigorod Biological station of Moscow State University in the end of September 2013.

The event was organized by Moscow State University, Zvenigorod station, and Paleontological Institute.

More than 50 ornithologists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, England, China and Germany attended the conference

and presented papers on paleornithology, functional morphology, physiology, phylogeny and systematics of birds, as well as evolutionary ecology.

A series of plenary lectures were devoted to the history of the ornithological science and the role of Evgeny Kurochkin in this,

as well as various major topics in avian evolutionary biology.
