NOTICE REGARDING TRASH AND RECYCLING
May 2015
The Manors of Paint Branch Homeowners Association (HOA) has received written complaints from our fellow residents regarding trash and recycling practices in our neighborhood. Therefore, we would like to take this opportunity to remind all residents of the following rules and regulations that are in place for the general benefit and health of us all, as well as for our environment.
Trash and Recycling – As a reminder, Potomac Disposal picks up household trash on Mondays and Montgomery County picks up trash and recycling on Thursdays.
1. Rigid, closable, containers are required to be used to store and present trash for pick-ups, as per Montgomery County (MoCo) regulations. Please put your residence address number clearly on the trash container to help ensure compliance.
2. Large wheeled blue MoCo containers are required for recycling mixed paper and cardboard boxes. Small blue MoCo containers should be used for glass, plastic and other recyclable items. These blue recycling containers are available at no charge from MoCo.
3. MoCo weekly pick-ups (and holiday schedules) are available at: http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/sws/holidays/#
4. Your HOA provides an additional trash-only pick-up every Monday morning that occurs on Mondays regardless of public holidays - except for Christmas and New Year’s Day. This extra day helps ensure that trash need not be put at the curb in non-rigid containers (such as plastic bags, etc.) that are subject to animal and weather-related damage.
If, under exceptional circumstances, your trash amount exceeds your rigid container size, you are required to place any additional trash in solid, closed, heavy duty plastic bags next to or on your rigid trash container on the morning of trash pick-up only, not the night before. This greatly reduces the risk of loose garbage infecting our neighborhood.
Your HOA board members and fellow concerned residents will continue to monitor the trash and recycling practices of our neighborhood with the goal of increased individual resident awareness of as well as participation and compliance with these county regulations. We trust that everyone will acknowledge the importance of these common sense public sanitation and health measures with the understanding that after circulation of this reminder notice, any further non-compliance by a resident will result in further action.
