Inaugural Annual Pacific Northwest Quantitative Biology Meeting Held at OHSU

October 1, 2015

The first annual Pacific Northwest Quantitative Biology conference was held at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) on September 11, 2015 in the new Collaborative Life Sciences Building (CLSB). 40 scientists from six different universities – OHSU, Lewis and Clark College, Oregon State University, Portland State University, Reed College, and Washington State University – gathered to build a community of scientists interested in quantitative biology.

Representatives from each university spoke about their relevant programs and how we could utilize summer intern programs to share students and make use of the new imaging facilities at the CLSB. During scientific "speed dating," PIs, post-docs, and students paired up and had short conversations about how they define quantitative biology. Following an informal poster session, PIs from each of the six different universities spoke. The meeting ended with a discussion about how future meetings should be organized to solidify a PacNoW QB community.
