Here's What You Need if You're Buying New

The Scout Shop at the Tampa Bay Area Council Service Center (AKA "The Scout Office") will help you with everything you need. Let them know your pack number is 9.

Reusing Old Uniforms:

Uniforms are expensive, and A Scout Is Thrifty.  If the pack doesn't have one in your scout's size and you're okay with a little sewing, check on eBay for older shirts and attach the correct patches.  

If Purchasing a Tan Field Uniform shirt, look for one that has brown buttons, shoulder epaulets, and a Cotton/Poly blend.  You may see these referred to as "Oscar de la Renta" or ODLR.  These uniforms breathe better than some of the modern options and are better suited to Florida.  

Another good option for the Tan Field Uniform shirt is the Centennial Uniform, which is made from a synthetic performance fabric and has matching khaki buttons, a rear vent like a fishing shirt, and bellows breast pockets (and sometimes a pocket on the left arm).  

• Webelos scouts can upgrade to the tan Scout Field Uniform if they outgrow their navy blue field uniform, or if they are joining cub scouts scouts for the first time.  

• Insignia needed for Old Uniforms from other places: 

  • Council Strip Patch  (If you are purchasing your Field Uniform online)

  • Red #9 Patch

  • 40 Year Veteran Bar (Optional)

  • Optional patches: 

    • Purple WOSM patch,

    • Centennial Ring patch

Tips:

• The pack may have some uniforms and uniform parts that have been donated.  Please check with pack leadership before making purchases.

• When buying a uniform, go a little bigger so your scout can grow into it.

Handbooks:

Each child will be required to have his own handbook. Remember to get the handbook appropriate for the program in which your scout will be participating (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or AOL).   We will have Books available for purchase at the first several meetings.
