About Pack 725:
-Pack 725 is a member of the Blue Ridge Council, located in the Swamp Rabbit district.
-Pack 725 is comprised of about 30 boys and girls ranging from K5-5th grade.
Each grade level is a separate den.
K5 grade = Lions
1st grade = Tigers
2nd grade = Wolf
3rd grade = Bear
4th grade = Jr Webelos (Acronym for We’ll Be Loyal Scouts)
5th grade = Arrow of Light
This den arrangement is not set in stone. If your scout is a year ahead or behind they may go into whichever den will best support their level. The main idea is that a 5th grader will not be in the same den with the 1st graders.
-Leadership
All leaders are volunteers, which come from a variety of backgrounds, Military, entrepreneur, architect, engineer, business managers, teachers, etc. They all have scouts in the pack. The BSA provides training to assure they are delivering the best program possible. The pack is graded through a JTE (Journey to Excellence) program. Pack 725 has earned the title of “Quality unit” for the past several years. This is a Parent led organization. You may have heard the phrase “It takes a village to raise our youth”. This is our village. Cub Scouting is NOT like sports where the coach leads all activities. We meet regularly through the school year, and take the summers off. We still plan a couple of activities each month during the summer.
- About Cub Scouting:
Cub Scouts is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America, 1,176,119 strong according to the 2019 report. BSA relies on charter organizations to sponsor the various packs and troops. Our charter organization is Mauldin United Methodist Church. The church primarily provides a space to meet. The pack otherwise is self-sufficient.
-What do Cub Scouts do?
Occasionally, scouts will do the fun stuff like camping, archery, and derby races, but a majority of time is spent learning.
Cub scouting will teach scouts the skills and traits that they will most likely not be taught in a typical school program. They will learn team building skills and be given the chance to hone their skills within a small den of their peers. Most importantly they will gain the confidence to go out into the community and be a positive influence. They will have the confidence to make the right decision even though it may not yield the easiest path. These are traits that can’t be unlearned, and will stay with them forever.
-Communications
As the Cub Scout Motto states, “Do Your Best”, we attempt to keep everyone informed with scout related information. A weekly email is the primary method of communication, but we also maintain a Google Calendar, and Facebook page.
We utilize Scoutbook, (web-based application), to track advancements for each scout. As a parent, you also have access to Scoutbook and are encouraged to sign off scout requirements as they are completed at home. Not all requirements can be completed within a den meeting.
