2018 Popcorn Program

Popcorn fundraising occurs each fall and is Pack 40's main method for financing pack activities for the year. Only 27% goes to product costs, making the popcorn cost comparable to what you find in your grocery store. The remaining 73% is a donation that goes directly to local scouting at the council, pack, and individual scout level.

Pack 40 Popcorn Kickoff Presentation

Why do we sell popcorn?

  • Enables Scouts to pay for their own scouting costs, helping family finances - "A scout is thrifty!"
  • Teaches Scouts the value & process of setting and working toward goals
  • Gives Scouts a strong sense of accomplishment through recognition
  • Enhances communication, leadership skills and confidence in your Scout
  • Scouts can earn valuable rewards including gift cards and prizes

Sales Goals:

Below are the goals you and your Scout should strive for...

  • $475 per scout
  • $16,000 as a Pack

See the 2018 Parent Handout for important dates and other info about the sale.

We receive 37% commission from the Popcorn Sale and 36% supports the Minsi Trails Council (8% of that is pays for the prizes and rewards). That's 73% going back to local Scouting!

Of our 37% your Scout receives half in a Scout Account (18.5% of what he/she sells). The Scout Account can be be used for Scouting activities such as summer camp, monthly pack activities, and Scout Shop purchases. The other half goes to support Pack 40.

We estimate that our dues (not counting registration fees) will be $75. If you sell $475 your dues will be paid and you have $89 in your son's scout account.

Individual Rewards:

  • Weekly - Turn in $100 in sales for your pick of theater candy

  • The Product is shipped directly from Trail’s End to the customer and the Scout and Unit receive credit for the Sale.
  • When setting up your account you need to put that you are in North Valley District and the pack number will be 5040.

Show and Sells

  • Show and Sells make up a big part of our popcorn program. We've obtained permission from local businesses to set up a sales table. Show and Sells have plenty of products on-hand for people to buy. Different Scouts work at the table in shifts. Always have adult supervision. All sales from that day will be divided by the number of scouts who worked the sale.
