Music After High School

There are lots of ways to stay involved in music and keep playing your instrument after you finish high school!

  • Join a community group! There are always local bands/orchestras in the area who are looking for musicians who simply want to keep playing for fun.
  • Join an ensemble at your college or university- without being a music major! It's a common misconception that you have to be a music major in order to participate in your school's ensembles. Participating in ensembles can sometimes include a partial scholarship!
  • Be a music major! If you would like to pursue a college degree in music, you will take classes that that will teach you skills to help you become a well rounded musician, such as music theory, private lessons on your instrument, music history and more. In order to be accepted as a music major, there is an audition process that will take place in the fall of your senior year. If this is something that interests you, do some research on your own with the links below and contact Ms. Paredes for more details!
