About the Program

The Pacific HS Music Program has rich traditions as the second oldest high school in the city of San Bernardino, CA. The program today is roughly 15% of the school's population and is one of the most visible programs on and off campus. We believe in the power of music and it's influence on the character, mind and spirit of the individual. The 2020-2021 school year we are bringing back choir to PHS! The music program consists of the following classes:

Symphonic Band

Chamber Orchestra

Orchestra 1

Marching Band

Jazz Band/Mariachi (after school - Spring)

About Ms. Otis

Music Director

Ms. Courtney Otis graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and a Master of Arts degree in Learning and Teaching from the University of Redlands. Ms. Otis has experience teaching at all levels. She previously taught elementary band in the Redlands Unified School District for two years. Ms. Otis did her student teaching at both Redlands High School and Beattie Middle School. She also has taught flute and clarinet privately for the last 4 years.

Ms. Otis's performance experience includes performing in the University of Redlands Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Flute Choir and University Choir.

Currently Ms. Otis plays Flute in the Concert Band at San Bernardino Valley College. This ensemble is open to both SBVC and high school students in SBCUSD.

Ms. Otis's professional associations are: NAfME, SBCMEA, SCSBOA, and Sigma Alpha Iota Women's Music Fraternity

When I'm not teaching I try to find fun ways to relax and stay busy. Some of my interests outside of school include: roller skating, going to Disneyland, playing my Nintendo Switch, and spending time with my friends, family and boyfriend.
