Delivering Compelling Talks -- Why, What, and How?

For better or worse, communication and public speaking skills are a major differentiating skill for career success. Content must be the core value of what you say, but the delivery and presentation often has the majority effect on people's perceptions.

I'll describe how, despite intrinsically being an introverted computer nerd, I've used multiple techniques to develop into a multi-award winning speaker.


We'll motivate you to recognize what are some of the best and worst things that can happen from improving your presentations (e.g., unsolicted job offers), recognize what makes for a compelling talk (hint: not your written text slides), and discussion on example techniques you can apply (e.g., self-recording and anticipating questions).
