13 October 2007: Twickenham, UK

Our documentation is finally all here. On returning from Malaga (Spain) last night we found the Vehicle Insurance waiting for us, and we received the Carnet and our Personal Insurance this morning. It looks like we actually might be able to finally leave on Monday or Tuesday now, although we would really like to have tenants in the flat beforehand, and have the garage rented out.

The Carnet starts on 1st November though and considering we don't need it until after Morocco, we really should get going.

22 June 2005: Leicester, UK

After visiting the bank and withdrawing a rather large wad of cash, we set off to Leicester with Ross' parents to pick up our lovely landy, Duzi2, from the eBay seller, Tony Mason. We had certainly struck it lucky. The landy was amazing, even if it was a tree-frog green on the inside. We drove back like King and Queen.

21 June 2005: Twickenham, UK

After spending many years debating about what vehicle to use for an overland trip through Africa, and having settled on the fact that it was always going to be a Land Rover, we suddenly found ourselves having to make some crucial last second decisions, as a particular auction on eBay ticked down to it's final heart-pounding moments. A "lifetime" later the screen refreshed, and tearful chaos descended on a little room in Twickenham as the words 'You won the item!' filtered through. We were the proud owners of a 1997 Land Rover Defender 110 Station Wagon 300tdi, and our first step home had been taken.
