WELCOME Fall Session 2019

Are you or your child looking to improve public speaking and leadership skills as well as improve problem solving or parenting skills?

We are two not-for-profit Toastmasters clubs in the making - a Youth Gavel Club (Toastmasters for kids) and a Parents Toastmasters Club!

There are many Toastmasters clubs around town. Each club has its own culture and its own way of running their meetings. Most clubs center around a similar meeting structure. Members and non-members are welcomed to drop in on any meeting to meet the members and see if it works for them. In a typical meeting, you'll find different levels of speakers... there are members who are practiced and confident speakers to those who are novice speakers and starting to explore public speaking.

Each club member learns at their own pace. Members gain hands-on experiences on the foundations of good public speaking skills like good body language, good eye contact, vocal variety, getting to the point, etc. On the leadership side, members learn hands-on experiences in listening skills, giving and receiving feedback, leading a session, conducting a meeting, negotiating, planning and much, much more. All are valuable skills which are required to be successful in life.

At the Ottawa Public Speakers Youth Gavel Club, we welcome youths who are 9-17 years old. Our focus is on fun while gaining valuable experiences for your youth’s future! This club runs in sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring).

At the Ottawa Public Speakers Parents Toastmasters Club, 20 interested parents are required to form a new club. Unlike other Toastmasters clubs, our club has a focus on parenting skills as well as public speaking and leadership skills. You will find supportive friends at the Ottawa Public Speakers Parents Toastmasters Club! You might learn what-to-do and what-not-to-do from other parents. Afterall, kids do not come with manuals! It’s a win-win-win that can help improve your relationship with your kids, improve your career prospects, and re-energize yourself! The Youth Gavel Club Fall Session runs from Sept 27th, 2019 - Dec 6th, 2019! Every Friday, 7:30pm-9:00pm! Beaver room, Richcraft Recreation Center, Kanata. Registration deadline: September 20th, 2019. Space is limited. Don’t miss out!
