OJJB is proud to announce auditions for the 2026/2027

performance year! Listed below are the positions open for audition:

AUXILLARY PERCUSSION / 2ND DRUMSET PLAYER

To play in OJJB, you must be 15 years of age or less as of January 1, 2027 or starting Gr. 10 or under in September 2026. The band runs from September - June each year and rehearses every Tuesday evening from 7:30-9:30pm at Longfields-Davidson Heights S.S.

OJJB 2025-2026

The Ottawa Junior Jazz Band (OJJB) is an 18 piece big band consisting of grade 7, 8, 9 and 10 students from the Ottawa Region. In it's 24th season, OJJB sets out to provide a platform for students to further expand upon their musical experiences from middle school, and promote an interest in big band music. OJJB has been awarded 24 consecutive Gold Standards at the Capital Region Music Festival. The band has been awarded the Gold Standard at every performance they have had at Musicfest Canada's National Competition. OJJB has been featured at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival and in 2009, traveled to Dallas to perform at the University of North Texas Jazz Festival. The band has had the pleasure of performing on stage with jazz artists Mark Ferguson, Nick Dyson, and Mike Tremblay. Anyone who aspires to be the next member of OJJB is required to audition for entry into the band which takes every year in the month of June.
