OJJB Band Story:

The Ottawa Junior Jazz Band (OJJB) is an 18 piece big band consisting of grade 7, 8, 9 and 10 students from the Ottawa Region. For 18 years, OJJB has set out to provide a platform for students to further expand upon their musical experiences from middle school, and promote an interest in big band music. OJJB has been awarded 18 consecutive Gold Standards at the Capital Region Music Festival and was awarded the Gold Standard at Musicfest Canada Nationals in 2006, 2009, and 2010. OJJB has been featured at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival from 2002-2018 and has also performed at the prestigious University of North Texas Jazz Festival in 2009. The band has had the pleasure of performing on stage with jazz artists Mark Ferguson, Ron Di Lauro, and Mike Tremblay. Anyone who aspires to be the next member of OJJB is required to audition for entry into the band, which is held yearly in the month of June.
