In order to allow for more variety within the thief class, we've revised the character creation, skills, and advancement for this class. Using this change, you pick skills and can create characters with specializations and particular strengths and weaknesses to suit your play style. Some examples might be a rooftop cat-burglar, a knee-level pickpocket, a forest scout, or whatever.
Thieves spend percentage points on skills, with a maximum per level. Climb walls and balance are the only exceptions to the normal maximum, and have their own cap reflecting the fact that a low score in either can be exceedingly dangerous.
To first buy a skill, you have to put AT LEAST 10 percentage points into the skill. This remains true of buying new skills at any level.
For each level after 5th, the statistics are just the same as those in the '5th on' row.
