All talks will take place in room 614 of the Science and Education Building University of Haifa

The algebraic topology of operads I

June 5, 16:00 Israel Time

Operads play a central role in algebraic topology and related fields, but they can also be studied by themselves using tools of algebraic topology. The first lecture will present an historically motivated and generally accessible introduction to the concept of an operad, with special attention to the notion of an En-operad.

The algebraic topology of operads II

June 6, 14:00 Israel Time

Operads play a central role in algebraic topology and related fields, but they can also be studied by themselves using tools of algebraic topology. The second lecture will discuss combinatorial models for these En-operads in terms of graphs, trees and permutation groups.

The algebraic topology of operads III

June 7, 11:00 Israel Time

Operads play a central role in algebraic topology and related fields, but they can also be studied by themselves using tools of algebraic topology. The third and last lecture will discuss dendroidal spaces and the homotopy type of mapping spaces between such operads.
