Nanotechnology: The New Science of Small

Summer 2014

Every Thursday • 10:00 am-11:50 am • KHS 199

June 5, 12, 19, 26 • July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 • August 7

Come with us on a fantastic voyage into a domain that is nine orders of magnitude smaller than humans – comparable to the difference in scale between you and the sun. Nanotechnology in the 21st century may allow us to develop faster, smaller computers and smarter smartphones; to detect and treat diseases when only a few cells have gone wrong; and to capture the energy of the sun more efficiently and economically with nanoscale photocells and virus-built batteries. In this course, presented through DVD lectures, we will explore the “science of small.” After each lecture we’ll have a chance to discuss what we've learned.
