Welcome to my webpage. I am a senior economist at the research department of the National Bank of Belgium. I am also an affiliated associate professor at the department of Finance at Tilburg University.
Since April 2024, I am visiting part-time the ECB, at DGR-FIR as a Lead Economist, primarily in the context of the new ESCB Research Network ChaMP (Challenges for Monetary Policy in a Changing World).
Twice a year, I organize a workshop of the Empirical Financial Intermediation network. jointly with Mike Marathasian and Klaas Mulier. The aim of the EFI network is to organize small workshops on empirical financial intermediation during which researchers receive ample time to present and receive feedback on their work in a friendly atmosphere.
In my empirical research, I examine various aspects of financial intermediation, related to :
bank-firm relationships and shock transmission
bank lending specialization
empirical methods to decompose credit supply from credit demand
the role of collateral in lending
financial intermediation along firms' supply chain
