Biotechnology & Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) Impact Programme
A 3 year BBSRC Excellence with Impact (EWI) Programme working with the BBSRC to deliver cultural change in Impact. Our 21 strands of activity to Invest, Do More and Share brought in awards of over £250,000, including the BBSRC Impact award, and Special Commendation award. Key outputs included:
Innovation China Programme
I set up a UK-China population genetics and stratified medicine network and led a mission to China which included Genomics England, AstraZeneca, J&J, the Wellcome Sanger and the Science & Technology Facilities Council to present at 3 international launch forums in China and Hong Kong.
EU Researchers Nights
An EU outreach event aimed at raising public awareness to the social impact of research. Delivery included 3000 hours of educational entertainment, a radio broadcast with the Naked Scientists and production of promotional website, videoclips, podcasts and an impact assessment report.

Emerging Technologies in Cardiovascular Stem Cells
A showcase highlighting the new frontiers of cardiovascular stem cells and the potential use for patient benefit. Held in partnership with the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).
Speakers ranged from major charities such as the British Heart Foundation to small medium sized companies (SMEs) such as Plasticell. The event was supported by large corporation Sanyo. Click on links to see programme and press release
Technological Advances in Dental Imaging and Materials
A technological showcase highlighting the latest research in dental imaging and materials for patient benefit. The day focused on dental materials and imaging from CT scanning to the latest techniques in prevention. Held in partnership with the TSB.
Large organisations such as the UK Trade and Investment and GlaxoSmithKline, contributed to the programme with sponsorship from several SMEs.
The event was promoted by QMUL, TSB as well as other Dental and Life sciences websites.
