Welcome to The Old Mortonians
We are a diverse group of people of all ages with a common interest in canals and canal life.
Our name is derived from the original settlement of Moortown or Morton as this area was know when the canal was first cut.
Today it is a suburb of Rugby known as Hillmorton stemming from the amalgamation of Moortown and a higher lying settlement of Hull or Hill
Our aim is to educate current and future generations, by display, publication, media,
events, meetings, preservation of artefacts and memories of those who worked the commercial canal boats,
and any other means possible, about the Oxford Canal at Hillmorton and its use, both today and through the ages.
