Oliver Díaz, PhD
Biography
Dr Oliver Díaz is Associate Professor at the University of Barcelona and senior member at the Barcelona Artificial Intelligence in Medicine Laboratory, where he coordinates the oncology projects (EuCanImage, RadioVal, FUTURE-ES). Dr Díaz is also staff attached to the Computer Vision Center since 2023. He holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering from the University of Surrey, UK (2013) and was later awarded with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015-2017). Dr Díaz has 14+ years international research experience in the field of medical imaging and medical physics and has participated in 20+ research projects (HorizonEurope, H2020, FP7, EIT Health, RETOS, RIS3CAT, CRUK, ...). His research includes developing artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms and computer simulations to support decisions in medicine (e.g. improve image quality, lesion detection, segmentation, etc.).
