With a roster of less than 10 guys, Oakland stepped into the club scene in their first tournament of 2011. The team rolled though pool play and semifinals. They lost 13-11 to another Pittsburgh club team, Dire Wolf, in finals. The loss left a bitter taste in the mouths of those who attended. For those who didn't play, it left a desire to avenge a tournament loss.

A few weeks after the disappointing loss to Dire Wolf at Youghiogheny Cup, the Haiders took on NexGen, a touring group of collegiate all-stars. In front of a home crowd, and having the opportunity to field a majority of the roster for the first time, Oakland jumped out to an early lead. Thanks to a couple breaks in the middle of the first half, the Haiders went up 6-4.
But NexGen clawed back some breaks of their own to take half 8-7. The Haiders couldn't find a second wind in the second half and eventually fell to the all-stars 15-11.
It was another difficult loss to stomach, but the guys decided it would be good use as fuel for upcoming tournaments and eventually the series.

Oakland lost all three games in pool play, but rebounded with wins in the power pools the following day. They defeated Tanasi, 15-12, and Sub Zero, 17-16. Unfortunately, Oakland would need help - namely in the loss by Madison Club in the power pool games - to advance to the championship bracket. Madison won their games and Oakland was relegated to the 9th place bracket. They lost to Mid-Atlantic rival, Truck Stop, 15-8, and Johnny Bravo, 15-8, in the 11th place game.
The Haiders, in their first season of existence, entered Nationals as the 13th seed and finished 12th, breaking seed by 1. If USAU keeps the same bid allocation format as they have in the previous years, Oakland's finished helped secure an additional bid for the Mid-Atlantic next season.
