2021 COVID-19 Updates
Thank you for all of your patience as we chart our course for this season.
YES, we will have a 2021 season. It will most likely look different as we continue to keep safety as our number one priority.
The National Science Olympiad Organization has developed several paths that States, Regions, and individual coaches can take to continue on with a Science Olympiad Season. See the documents below for more details.

MY SO is a 9-month, calendar-based set of supports to keep students engaged in Science Olympiad at home, at school and afterschool. Each themed month is connected to a popular Science Olympiad subject like Epidemiology, Space or Structures, and contains free resources like Lesson Plans and STEM Sessions, interviews with leading experts in the field about careers and workforce. One Thursday a month, they will host two STEM Showdowns, national-level online Science Olympiad tests students take in real time to gauge their knowledge against their peers, complete with prizes and a national monthly leaderboard. MY SO can be used as a standalone or to support any regular Science Olympiad season.
The Lesson plans, practice tests, and other materials are free for use. The STEM showdowns are $10 per participant. Go to the National Science Olympiad MY SO page for details and materials.
Oakland County Science Olympiad is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, run entirely by volunteers. We serve students from both public and private schools in Oakland County, Michigan.
Science Olympiad is an international non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both students and teachers. These goals are accomplished through classroom activities, research, training workshops and the encouragement of intramural, district, regional, state and national tournaments. Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of team events, which students prepare for during the year. These challenging and motivational events are well balanced between the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology.
