Oak Creek Lions are committed to making our communities a better place. Our members are diverse and so is our volunteer service. We help where we are needed in Oak Creek, in Wisconsin and throughout the world. If you would like to help us in one of our projects, we welcome you to join in.
One of our core missions is sight related projects and programs. Lions collect used eye glasses and deliver them to the Wisconsin Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Rosholt, Wisconsin. Once delivered to the facility the eyglasses are then sorted, cleaned, categorized, bagged and boxed in preparation for distribution by Lions and other groups to third world countries. We encourage community members to donate their used eyeglasses. Collection boxes have been placed throughout Oak Creek, including an outdoor drop off box directly opposite of the entrance doors to the Oak Creek Community Center, 8580 South Howell Avenue.
“We need everyone to donate their old glasses,” said Lion Scott Koenig, Oak Creek Lions Club President. "By taking the time to give us your glasses, you will help improve the life of someone in need." In most developing countries, eye care is either too expensive or or not accessible. An eye exam can cost as much as one month’s wages, and a single eye doctor may serve a community of hundreds of thousands of people. For many, poor eyesight that is left uncorrected can lead to unemployment for adults and a child’s inability to attend school.

We celebrate the holiday season by visiting local nursing homes and assisted living facilities to bring merriment to our seniors. All Sing-A-Longs begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include a visit with Santa and refreshments. Come, lend your voice and bring some joy to our seniors! Song books provided (although you probably know most of them).
