Open Research Workshop at the NZ eResearch Symposium

Post date: Jul 14, 2012 10:41:09 AM

On July 4 Cameron Neylon and Fabiana Kubke ran a workshop to explore the viability of Open Research in the New Zealand context. The workshop was extremely successful and there was great feedback from the audience.

The participants were challenged with a series of questions to explore in small groups, and the feedback from each of the groups was captured and collectively edited. The summary of the session and the list of participants can be found in slideshare (http://www.slideshare.net/kubke/ereearch-symposium-workshop-on-open-research).

The day before the workshop, Cameron and Fabiana were interviewed by Peter Griffin from Science Media Centre for their weekly podcast. The interview can be found here: http://sciblogs.co.nz/tosp/2012/07/06/388/. In it Cameron and Fabiana discuss the Finch Report, Open Access, Public Library of Science and PeerJ.

Thanks to the organisers of the NZ eResearch Symposium for allowing us to run a workshop and to Peter Griffin for the opportunity to discuss the important issue of access to the results of publicly funded research work.
