Here you will find a collection of resources to help you prepare for the NYS Global Regents Exam. This website was specifically designed for students to use independently, but teachers can also find resources on this website to help prepare their students to take the exam. Please view the Introduction video & the descriptions below for more information about the pages on this website. The PDF file entitled "Regents Project Overview" attached below also includes a description of this website.

Resource Pages
The "World Religions", "Imperialism", & "Globalization" study pages were designed to give you a summary of the social studies content & skills Ms. Takhtani believes you need to understand about a few of the topics covered on the NYS Global Regents Exam.
Each page includes -
A Historical Context: In this section of the page, you can find a description of the historical context of the topic of the resource page. In other words this section of the page describes the "setting" in which the topic of the resource page emerged, originated, or developed. It may also describe the cultural, economic & socio-political backgrounds relating the historical concepts or time periods covered on these pages.
It is also formatted so that all people, groups, & organizations are highlighted in red, vocabulary words are highlighted in green, big concepts or important eras (proper nouns) are highlighted in purple, dates are highlighted in blue, & places & countries are highlighted in orange. This color coding system is also used throughout the website & in the video transcript worksheets (see #3 below).
An Introduction Video: In this section of the page, Ms. Takhtani will outline the social studies content covered on the resource page. Concepts & ideas Ms. Takhtani has identified as being commonly tested on the NYS Global Regents exam will also discussed in these videos. Mnemonic devices or acronyms will also be given to help remember main points about each topic.
Multiple Crash Course Videos & Edited Video Lessons: These videos & edited video lessons will cover the most important ideas related to the page's topic. Each page will have at least 1 Crash Course (from executive producers John & Hank Green) video lesson edited by Ms. Takhtani & will also have multiple other Crash Course YouTube videos (from executive producers John & Hank Green) chosen by Ms. Takhtani for their relevance to the page's topic. These videos may include past NYS Global Regents questions, guiding questions, vocabulary definitions, & explanations of content events/ideas.
Each video will also have an accompanying video transcript worksheet, which includes a text form of the video as well as multiple pop-up questions &/or hints from Ms. Takhtani. These documents also include questions from past Regents Exams that directly relate to the topic on the video. The answers to Ms. Takhtani's questions & the Regents questions are at the end of these documents. Students can follow along with the video lesson with this worksheet if it is printed out as a paper copy.
The video transcript worksheets are also formatted so that all people are highlighted in red, vocabulary words are highlighted in green, big concepts or important eras (proper nouns) are highlighted in purple, dates are highlighted in blue, & places are highlighted in orange. This color coding system is also used throughout the website & in the resource pages' historical contexts (see #1 above).
The videos & their materials can be found by clicking on the blue or purple links in the lesson's titles on the study page. These links will take you to new pages of the site or Google Documents where they can be accessed. The topic, emphasis, & vocabulary covered in each video will also be listed on the study page.
A Conclusion: In this section of the page, Ms. Takhtani will give a summary of the ideas/information covered on the page & provide a list of additional resources related to the page's topic. Directions will also be given on how to proceed to the next stage of studying.
Students should proceed through these pages in the order outlined above in order to gain a complete understanding of the study pages' topics!

Ms. Takhtani will show you how to write thematic essays on the "World Religions" page, analyze visuals & political cartoons on the "Imperialism" page, & analyze graphs, maps & charts on the "Globalization" page.
This page is designed to help students & teachers find Crash Course YouTube videos (from executive producers John & Hank Green) that relate to topics covered on the NYS Global History & Geography Regents Exam that are not covered on the resource pages of this website. Each topic, which directly correlates to a Grade 9 or 10 Key Idea in the NYS Social Studies Framework (2014), will have a list of Crash Course YouTube videos (from executive producers John & Hank Green) links that Ms. Takhtani believes can be used to study each topic.
