The 2025 CTE Fair will be held at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon
on Wednesday, May 7th 2025.

Day of the event
The judging of the projects will be in the Lifelong Learning and Recreation Center (LLRC). Other activities will be located in or around The Diesel Lab (Building D) or South of the LLRC. Please let your students know that they cannot leave the for any reason during the day. Students will be responsible to get their projects to the host site, unload them, set them up in the appropriate areas, tag them, and pick up at the conclusion of the day.
Judges will come from local businesses, college instructors, or college students.
Tentative schedule of the activities for the day
8:30 - 10:00 Unload projects (Diesel Shop - East side of Building D, Furthest South doors) Parking will be available West of the LLRC (Lot #3 for buses, trailers, and other vehicles. If you have a trailer for your race vehicle it can be unhooked and left at the South end of the LLRC Parking Lot. Please park your tow vehicle with all other vehicles as soon as possible). Contests will be in / between Building D and the Applied Technology Building.
9:45 - 10:00 Judges meet to go over judging criteria (Auto Classroom)
10:00 - 12:00 Judging of projects (Diesel Shop for Ind. Tech and Ag, Building D Lobby by Parts Counter for FSC)
10:00 - 2:00 Presentations from local colleges and industries (Applied Technology Building, large items will be West of the ATB, or south of the LLRC )
10:15 - 10:30 Drivers meeting for JYW (South edge of LLRC Parking lot)
10:30 - 12:00 Junkyard Wars Race begins (South of LLRC) Spectators must stay out of the pits, off the track, and away from the vehicles
10:30 - 12:00 Culinary Contests (Diesel Lab)
Immediately after Race: Pneumatic Ball Launcher (South of LLRC)
12:30 - 1:30 Welding {Students must sign up ahead of time} (Welding Lab, Building C)
12:00 - 1:30 Nail Pound & Drill Drive (South of LLRC)
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch will be available for about $10 (Applied Technology Building)
12:00 - 1:15 Anvil Toss (North of LLRC) {All spectators and participants must be back at least 20’ and “behind” the throwing area, NOT off to the sides.}
1:30 - 2:00 Awards ceremony (LLRC)
2:00 - 2:30 Load up projects and head home
Restrooms will be available in the ATB, Building D, and LLRC.
School Project Entries
Please fill out the spreadsheet form for each project:

Filling out this form will help us to ensure that there will be enough space available to display all of the projects, how many judges we will need, and the amount of food to feed everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please enter the following information into the correct box on the spreadsheet:
-School Name
-Project Division and number of projects in that division
-Which of the students / teams will be competing in the various competitions in the various Ind Tech / Ag competitions and the FCS competitions.
-Total number of students and adults attending? (This is very important to know as soon as possible so we have enough food for the day)

Project Write Ups
Project Write Up needs to be attached to the student’s project, and should include the following:
material list
list of machines used
type of joinery used
project plan
pictures of the student working
provide a plan of procedure
material list
list of tools / machines / equipment used
types of joints
explanation of the each of the following questions:
Why you choose this project
What you liked and disliked about the project
What would you do differently
What did you learn from the project

*Failure to attach a write up will result in a penalty of a deduction of points. Students without a write up can not place in the top 3 of their category.
