2025 CTE Fair will be held at the Northwest Iowa Community College campus in Sheldon on
Wed May 7th.
What is the CTE Fair?
The Northwest Iowa Career and Technical Education Fair is a gathering of rural area high schools to allow students to display projects they have completed throughout the year during industrial technology, family and consumer sciences, agricutlure, and other CTE classes (we decieded to change the name slightly to make other programs feel more welcome to join us). The students also get the chance to compete in competitions if they choose {homemade dip challenge, cupcake wars, fashion competition, nail pound, welding, drill drive, anvil toss, and the popular Junk Yard Wars (requires the students to design and build vehicles using used materials, i.e. “junk”)}.
This CTE Fair is a great way for area students to show off their talents. This is a great opportunity for the students to compete with a positive experience and a place to show off their talents.
We are hoping to have some more activities for the students to take part in, still working on the details of those {If you have any recommendations please let us know}.
New this year:
- Students will need to include a project write up and cost sheet for the JYWs vehicle.
- Safety requirements for the JYWs vehicle have increased, failure to meet these requirements will result in AUTOMATIC disqualification (see full list of rules on our website).
- The JYWs race will have heats / brackets this year.
Thank You!
Thank you to everyone that participated in the 2024 NW IA CTE Fair. We hosted 9 schools and over 200 students throughout Northwest Iowa. We had a great showing from students, projects, and presenters.
A big thank you to the judges, volunteers, presenters, and instructors for their help.
Also thank you to all of the businesses that donated money and materials for prizes.
