CREATING YOUR WEBSITE

The purpose of this project is to start a patient education website using the free service on Google sites or other free website building software. We will start this as an assigned topic on oral health project, but this can be the basis of a comprehensive patient education and prevention website. You can begin to add to this website as you all move forward in your dental assisting careers and through the program to educate your patients.

We are in a technology driven world and the environment where we present dental education is not always conducive to learning for the patient; so giving them resources to look at after they leave can be beneficial for a patient to refer to as a follow up to conversations in the dental office.

Photograph: Have a professional photo of yourself on your introductory page; head shot only.

Theme: Professional, Dental Topic. You can customize this website and expand on oral health subjects you are interested in (science based).

Information on your topic

Oral health topics that interest you (categories i.e. Healthy snacks, soft drink info, Myths of super foods, Diets, frequently asked questions, Discussion boards or Ask the Student Assistant, etc.)

Later other categories can be added on patient home-care, product info, recommendation, blogs, announcements, videos, as well as, links to resources such as journals and reliable peer reviewed articles, etc.
