Procedures for Nursery

7:30 – 8:30

Early-Morning (Arrival) Procedure

· Help child bid the time of day (Good Morning…)

· Instruct/help child find name and place his/her bag pack in place

· Direct/help child to working station –indicated by teacher

· Child sits and works on motor and social skills exercises.


8:30 – 9:00

First Circle-Time Procedure

· Children are asked to clean up (put away toys in right order and place)

· Children are asked to sit in assigned chairs for morning activities to commence (First Circle time)

· Teacher sings nursery rhymes or sing songs pertaining to Theme of the Week

· Teacher presents the Theme of the Week ( Posters, Pictures, songs)

Bathroom Procedure August to December

· Teacher asks children if anyone needs to use the potty (every ½ hour)

· Teacher will help child to the potty or change pull ups.

Bathroom Procedure January to June

· Child is to be completely potty trained

· Child indicates to teacher if he/she needs to go to the potty, teacher assists

· Teacher also ask children if they need help to use the potty, teacher helps/assists child if needed

9:00 – 9:30

Break-time Procedure

· Quite time is implemented 2-3 minutes before break time

· Children are asked if again the need to go to the potty, teacher assists

· Children are called by name to stand, put in chair, line up and wait for friends

· When the children are lined up the following is done: sing: Please do not hit me, Review the rules of outside play, children are escorted to the bench outside.

· Children are called back to the bench after outside play, breathing exercises are executed.

9:30 - 9:45

Snack-time Procedures

· Sit on the bench outside the bathroom

· Teacher assist children in washing hands and face

· If necessary child’s shirt might be change

· Child is instructed to do quite time until all friends are seated.

· Give thanks

· Child is called out individually and help to get lunch kit, open lunch etc.

· When child indicate to teacher that he/she has finished snack, teacher assists in putting away and cleaning up.

10:30 - 11:15

Second Circle Time Procedure

· Book time: after snack time, children are given a few minutes to do book time.

· Teacher reads a book to them related to the Theme of the Week

· Teacher speaks on the Theme of the Week

· A color page or activity is done pertaining to the Theme of the Week

11:15 – 11:30

Home-Time Procedure

· 10/15 minutes before dismissal, class is cleaned up and motor/social skills activities continues: puzzles, beads etc.

· As parents approach classroom, teacher will call out child by name and assist him/her by getting bag pack and lunch kit and walk child to the door.
