The Tough Cookie 8k is a challenging and fun trail race followed by a holiday cookie fest. Bring your own favorite recipe or just enjoy cookies made by bakery sponsors.
Slow runners and fast walker's welcome.
All net proceeds are donated to local charities. Past recipients include the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, The Ecumenical Lay Council Northport Food Pantry, Opening Word Program and Island Harvest.
Race Course:
Start on the big field to the east of main parking lot, proceed over the east bridge and then up and down snake hill, up cardiac hill, and loop around the rolling hills on the east end of Sunken Meadow Park. There are some fantastic vistas of Long Island Sound that you may not have seen if you have not run this race before. Then you can enjoy a downhill run to the 4-mile mark. The course moves back across to the other side of the east bridge and runs west along the boardwalk to the finish at the main entrance. This is one of the most scenic and challenging trail runs on Long Island.
Post Race Festivities:
Post race snacks will be followed by the award ceremony and raffles. Napper Tandy's invites all eligible entrants to present their race number at their 229 Laurel Avenue, Northport location for a complimentary beverage after the race.
Individual Awards:
Awards will be given to the top three finishers in Open Male and Female, Masters Male and Female, and the top three finishers in 5-year age groups.
