Community Service

Community Service

Community Service is an important component of SkillsUSA. The Northwood SkillsUSA chapter requires each member to have at least 20 hours of community service. Community service allows members to give back to the community while making the world a better place.

Previous Projects

In the winter of 2012, the Northwood Chapter of SkillsUSA transformed into Santa's workshop. Made from scratch, the skills team made wooden toy cars. After all of the sanding and painting, members of the Skills team distributed the toy cars to children in the community.

Upcoming Projects

Many community service projects are on the way. Currently the Northwood SkillsUSA team has adopted a stretch of Highway 77 (County Road I to Brancel Road).

In partnership with the Northwood Art Club, SkillsUSA is holding an Empty Bowls event on Thursday, January 23. "Empty Bowls" is an international project to fight against hunger. This event happens in many communities but this one is specific to the Minong and Gordon area. Keep in touch to get more information on this event as it gets closer.
