How do I make ringlet curls for Party Girls and Cherubs?
There are a variety of methods, depending on personal preference, hair length/texture, and patience! Below are some helpful YouTube videos demonstrating 3 common methods for making ringlet curls:
- Insider tips from a veteran Party Girl mom for all curling methods below: there is a product called "Hot Sets" by Redkin that, if applied right before curling, helps tremendously with hair that has a hard time holding curl. Also, don't use conditioner prior to curling, as it relaxes the hair.
- Rag curl method (10 minutes!): one family raved about this method, having first tried a curling iron on a long-haired child: Youtube video on rag curls
- Foam/sponge rollers: best to start w/ hair lightly sprayed with Hot Set or hairspray; roll sections (not too thick) of hair in rollers, fasten with plastic clip; leave overnight; spray when you remove rollers & don't brush out: Youtube video on foam rollers
- Curling iron: follow instructions; best to spray/Hot Set first: Youtube video on curling iron
- For all methods, it's a good idea to have a big hairnet to wear over your full head of curls until stage time and between performances.
- Party Girls & Cherubs must arrive for dress parade/photos, dress rehearsals, & performances with curls done -- practice first! If you're having trouble, there are lots of veteran curlers to assist.
