Norsaremah's Research

My research has focused on software engineering, particularly empirical software engineering (SE), pair programming for CS/SE teaching and SE experimentation.

General research agenda involves in studies that perform empirical evaluation with regard to SE practices, methods, and tools which could help obtain better quality SE research. These include employing scientific or systematic approach in undertaking the studies, and performing a rigorous analysis on SE experimentation. I believe this could contribute to advancing the SE discipline through quality empirical studies.

At present I have a major interest in the following research:

  • Understanding the impact of human aspects (e.g. psychological factors) on SE methods/tools/practices. I have been involved in studies that investigated the effects of personality traits on pair programming practice employing the Five-Factor Personality Model or also known as a Big Five theory. The aim of the study was to improve the use of PP as a pedagogical tool in higher education.

  • Applying systematic approach in conducting review of literature. For example, using the systematic literature review (SLR) method or systematic mapping studies (SMS) to understand the existing state of evidence in SE studies.

  • Research related to improving CS/SE education system including investigating standards, practices, techniques, and tools for effective teaching and learning in higher education environment.
