Message from the East

Brothers,

There is in every regular and well governed Lodge, a certain point within a circle, embordered by two parallel perpendicular lines. . .. “

This month, Freemasons across the world will celebrate the Feast of St. John's. A curious yet well-meaning idea for a non-sectarian group. Freemasonry historically acknowledges St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist as its patron saints, reveres their memory, points to their exemplary lives in its ritualistic work, and dedicates its Lodges to them.

From the Masonic perspective, we can understand the balances of the two Saints, their meanings and what they stand for in our masonic world and how to incorporate those meetings into our everyday life. John the Baptist was zealous, while John the Evangelist was learned, and by picking both as patron saints, Masons symbolically united both passion and reason. Another interesting idea is that the significance of St John in Freemasonry is fundamental to the understanding of the Craft. The essential credo of Freemasonry is the spiritual journey we must make from darkness to light ie from the darkness of St John's Day (December 27th) when the sun begins its daily advancement to the light of St Johns Day (June 24th).

God bless brothers and I hope you have a great summer!!
